Individual Instruction In addition to stress reduction classes, I offer individual instruction in stress reaction practices. This is helpful for people who are not available to
attend the class, who desire instruction beyond what the class offers, or who prefer to work one-on-one rather than in a group setting.
Individual instruction incorporates a variety of components offered in the classes, such as:
- Mindfulness skills to help you remain more focused in the present moment.
- Establishing a general mindfulness and/or a meditation practice.
- Reducing the distractions in your life.
- Learning how to more effectively schedule and budget your time.
- Managing your time to allow for more spontaneity and to permit unexpected circumstances from derailing you.
- Learning the healing and calming benefits of communing with nature, even if you don’t have a lot of time to do so.
- Discovering, or re-discovering, your innate creativity, and practicing putting it to use.
- Developing the courage to say "no" to requests and opportunities that don’t work for you.
- Re-learning how to really have fun, in whatever way best suits you.
Please remember that in order to realize the benefits, you will need to practice what you learn. I cannot wave a magic wand to reduce your stress.
Rather, I will be your guide and facilitator and will help you when you feel "stuck" along the way.
Individual stress reduction instruction is not intended to serve as a substitute for psychotherapy. If you are experiencing considerable difficulties in your life, please consider entering therapy. I will be happy to talk to you confidentially about this
possibility if you feel it would be of help, and I may be able to refer you to a therapist in your area.
